Honda Unicycle

Yes! Made in Japan. Perfect for Americans!

The Honda Unicycle has just been revealed! Code named the U3-X, this futuristic unicycle is motor and battery powered and allows the user to steer simply by applying weight to the direct you want to turn. It is being marketed as the next generation personal transporter, the replacement for the Segway, and to be used mostly indoors.

I admit, it would be cool in the next five years to zip down Time Square in New York city and seeing mobs of my fellow pedestrians (that is, if we're still considered "pedestrians") on a spiffy honda unicycle. Allegedly, this is made by the same technology that Honda used to create it's Asimo robot (aka, your future overlord after the Great Robot Uprising of 2029....will we be able to outrun an Asimo on a U3-X??). So many of these weird little gadgets have come out lately that make me say to myself, "The future is now!!!"

But didn't we learn anything from Wall-E? What happens when we're all so fat from lack of exercise that these robotic devices are no longer able to carry our weight? For one thing, this honda unicycle looks so damn uncomfortable to sit on, sitting up straight but slightly leaning back at the same time. It seems it wouldn't take long to get a severe back-ache, although it seems to be self-balancing. Leaning forward, backward, and side to side to propel yourself around may require the use of abdominal muscles and may help you to keep a little slim at least. I can immagine hordes of these U3-X drivers, ripped 6-pack abs, and huge fatty legs from lack of walking, lol.

The new Honda Unicycle may be years away for us consumers, but we will wait with high expectations for the Tokyo Motor Show, scheduled for October, to reveal more of this futuristic contraption.
